About Me

Donald Doanman [formerly Don(ald) Nguyen] is a MD PhD student at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He graduated from the University of California-Davis, Class of 2017 and is originally from Westminster, California. Donald completed his Ph.D. in Dr. Benjamin Chen's Lab and been involved in HIV research since sophomore year of college, studying HIV Latency as it remains a major roadblock to a cure. Other extracurricular activities Donald has/have been involved in during his time at ISMMS include: Racism and Bias Initiative (RBI) x Center for Anti-Racism in Practice (CAP) Fellowship, LGBT Young Queer Urban Teens for Health (YQUTH) Pipeline program, Deconstructing Race in Medicine and Health nexus course, EHHOP, Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association, Stonewall Alliance, and student council as MSTP representative. A few hobbies of his include: scuba diving, playing volleyball, reading about current news, playing board games with friends, listening to musical soundtracks and trying to sing along (badly), dungeon and dragons, and facetiming his family.
