About Me

Dr. Dong-Seok Daniel Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Thoracic Surgery. He obtained his medical degree at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed a residency in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. He went on to complete a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Lee is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Dr. Lee’s practice encompasses all aspects of Thoracic Surgery with extensive expertise in advanced minimally invasive surgical approaches, such as thoracoscopy (VATS) and laparoscopy. He has particular clinical interests in the treatment of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and benign esophageal diseases (achalasia, reflux, hiatal hernia, diverticula) with minimally invasive surgery.  In addition, Dr. Lee is involved in a clinical trial involving a diaphragmatic pacing system for ventilator-dependent spinal cord injury patients and for patients with ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease.  Dr. Lee is fluent in English, Spanish, and Korean and has offices in Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Queens and Brooklyn Heights-Mount Sinai Hospital.
