Douglas B Unis, MD
Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery
About Me
Douglas Unis, MD, is a board certified and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement. He has expertise in:
· Total hip replacement
· Muscle-sparing anterior hip replacement
· Total knee replacement
· Partial knee replacement
· Complex revision hip and knee reconstruction
Dr. Unis has extensive experience in the muscle- and tendon-sparing anterior hip replacement technique, being one of the first to perform the procedure in New York City in 2006. The anterior hip replacement technique allows patients to go home sooner, return to normal activities faster, and requires no post-operative dislocation precautions.
Dr. Unis actively participates in clinical research related to hip and knee reconstruction, including anatomic knee alignment, 3D printing of implants, and robotics. He has received awards for innovation and teaching. Dr. Unis is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
