About Me
Dov Shamir, PhD, leads the Mount Sinai Health Systems newly established Elementa Labs, an incubator program powered by the health systems commercialization office, Mount Sinai Innovation Partners. The incubator helps strategically position external healthcare and biotechnology startup companies for the next stage in their development.
As an experienced scientist and entrepreneur, Dov supports founders by providing mentorship and guidance to develop their platforms and helps position their companies/solutions to the ecosystem for future growth and success. His multidisciplinary background extends to the creation of his own startups and products, therapeutic development, engineering, finance, and investing. He earned his PhD in Neuroscience & Physiology with a focus in tau immunotherapies for Alzheimer’s disease at NYU’s Grossman School of Medicine, and his BA in Economics from Yeshiva University.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
