Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery
About Me
Dr. Edward Yang joined The Icahn School of Medicine faculty in the department of Orthopedics in 1989. After graduating with his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine, Dr. Yang completed his internship in Orthopedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital. He then moved to the Hospital for Joint Diseases at NYU Langone Medical Center for his residency in Orthopedic Surgery. He was selected to be Chief Resident in his final year at the Hospital for Joint Diseases. With his board certification by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Yang now specializes in Joint Replacement Surgery using computer navigation and the MAKO robot.
In addition to his current role as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at The Icahn School of Medicine, Dr. Yang serves as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Queens. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Orthopedic Trauma Association, the Academic Orthopedic Society, the American Fracture Association, and the Chinese American Medical Society. Dr. Yang has received awards in teaching and service, and is also an Honorary Police Surgeon of the City of New York. He has published several peer-reviewed articles and is conducting research on hip fractures.
When discussing his pathway into medicine, Dr. Yang explains, "I went into medicine and specialized in orthopedics because of my love of fixing things with my hands. This combined with my passion for helping people led me to surgery and the specialty of Orthopedics. The surgery we do can truly change our patient's life."

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Yang has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
