About Me
Dr. Mirna Mohanraj, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Education and the Associate Program Director for the Mount Sinai Morningside-West Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Mohanraj graduated from The University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at the University of Chicago Hospital and the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. She completed her Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Mohanraj is a leader and clinician-educator at the Icahn School of Medicine. She serves as the systemwide Department of Medicine Vice Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She is board certified in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Mohanraj's academic interests focus on curriculum development, physician trainee well-being, program remediation, equity and inclusion, and bioethics improvement and education. Dr. Mohanraj is recognized nationally for teaching excellence, leadership, and innovative curricula design. She has received numerous awards for teaching and education research including: the 2017 American Thoracic Society Innovation in Fellowship Education Award, the inaugural ACGME Back to Bedside Multi-site grant, and the 2024 APCCMPD Award for Novel Fellowship Education Implementation. Dr. Mohanraj was also honored with the prestigious Dr. Nathan Kase Innovations in Medical Education Award. Dr. Mohanraj leads initiatives to ensure that each member of the Department of Medicine feels a deep sense of belonging and inclusion. She also works to ensure equitable fellowship recruitment and to develop local partnerships that bridge the gap between hospital and community.
