About Me
Elisa R. Port, MD, FACS, is a breast surgeon who specializes in the care and treatment of patients with breast cancer and those at increased risk for breast cancer. She is Professor of Surgery, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; Chief of Breast Surgery for the Mount Sinai Health System; Director of the Dubin Breast Center; and Director of the Center of Excellence for Breast Cancer at The Tisch Cancer Institute. Dr. Port has extensive experience with sentinel lymph node biopsy, nipple sparing mastectomy, and the newest techniques in breast cancer surgery for both invasive breast cancer and ductal carcinoma in situ.
Dr. Port has authored numerous publications on the role of sentinel lymph node biopsy in breast cancer and the role of MRI in patients at high risk for breast cancer. She is conducting research on treatment response for triple negative breast cancer and is an investigator on multiple clinical trials.
Dr. Port is also the author of The New Generation Breast Cancer Book: How to Navigate Your Diagnosis and Treatment Options-and Remain Optimistic-in an Age of Information Overload.
Dr. Port is a member of many professional organizations including the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Diseases, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group. She serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Breast Cancer Alliance.
Dr. Port is passionate about eliminating disparities in breast cancer care and ensuring that all patients have access to the best treatment. She is also committed to training the next generation of breast cancer surgeons.
