About Me

Born in San Diego, Erika moved to New York to pursue her PhD in the Microbiology Multidisciplinary Training Area in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. A member of Dr. Brad Rosenberg's lab, Erika has an interest in the antiproliferative  role of interferon stimulated genes in viral infections and cancer.

Erika graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2020 with a B.S. in Microbiology. During this period she had the opportunity to experience a variety of lab environments. Under Dr. William Joiner at UCSD she studied the role of the Ly6 protein family in the regulation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.During her study abroad, she worked with Dr. Masahiro Yamamoto at Osaka University to compare the role of human versus mouse GBPs in host defense against toxoplasma gondii infection.
