About Me
Erin S. Beck, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Mount Sinai Health System, and sees patients at the Corinne Goldsmith Dickinson Center for Multiple Sclerosis, with a focus in multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica, anti-MOG syndrome, and other autoimmune and infectious diseases affecting the brain and spinal cord. Dr. Beck’s research lab uses advanced MRI methods to understand underlying disease mechanism in MS and to develop markers that will be useful for MS diagnosis, prognosis, and response to treatment.
Dr. Beck received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Wellesley College, where she graduated summa cum laude. She completed her MD/PhD degree at Columbia University. Her PhD research was focused on mechanisms of synapse development and growth in normal development and in a model of spinal muscular atrophy. She completed her neurology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University, followed by a neuroimmunology fellowship at the NIH with Dr. Daniel Reich. In Dr. Reich’s lab she developed new MRI techniques for visualizing multiple sclerosis lesions in the cortex and then used these techniques to understand the characteristics, prevalence, and clinical associations of cortical lesions in a cohort of individuals with MS. This work has led to several publications in the American Journal of Neuroradiology and Investigative Radiology as well as a Clinician Scientist Development Award and a Career Transition Fellowship from the National MS Society. Visit her lab website.
Dr. Beck also has experience in early phase clinical trials targeting imaging markers of inflammation in MS as well as in treatment trials of immune checkpoint inhibitors and virus-specific T-cell therapy for progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, resulting in co-authorship on publications in The New England Journal of Medicine and Lancet Neurology.
Dr. Beck is fluent in English and Spanish. She offers telemedicine appointments when appropriate. Please call her office to schedule a visit.
The state of Florida requires out-of-state professionals who are registered to provide telehealth services to display a hyperlink to the Florida Department of Health telehealth web page. This allows Florida patients who are receiving medical care by telehealth to confirm the provider’s licensure and Florida registration.

Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
