About Me
Erinma Ukoha, MD, MPH, is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist and maternal-fetal medicine specialist at The Mount Sinai Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Ukoha focuses on high-risk pregnancies, with special interest in maternal disorders and comorbidities, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound-guided procedures, advancing health equity, and decriminalization of pregnancy.
Dr. Ukoha comes to Mount Sinai after completing her fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. During her time there, Dr. Ukoha was selected as a Physicians for Reproductive Health Leadership Training Academy fellow and served as a member of the New York Informed Consent Coalition.
Dr. Ukoha earned her medical degree and Master of Public Health from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Global Health Initiative Award. She went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco, where she served as Advocacy Chief Resident. During her residency, she was honored with the James R. Green, MD, Memorial Award for exemplifying a commitment to advocacy, compassionate care, and clinical excellence and was selected as a Foundation for Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Resident Scholar.
Dr. Ukoha has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented her research work at national conferences on topics such as the elimination of race-based risk factors for preeclampsia, equitable implementation of telemedicine in perinatal care, and decriminalization of substance use in pregnancy.
Dr. Ukoha is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is also a member of the Society of Family Planning and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, where she serves on the Health Policy and Advocacy Committee and Data to Action Training and Activation Academy Advisory Group.
