About Me
Dr. Leibu is an adult psychiatrist with experience and interest in treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions. He is actively involved in resident education and serves as the Pharmacology Course Director for the Mount Sinai Psychiatry Residency Program, where he has received multiple teaching awards. His clinical focus includes the psychopharmacological treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, and he previously served on the Clinical and Research Staff at the Mount Sinai Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders Program. Dr. Leibu also has experience treating mental health concerns in students and young professionals, having worked with the Student Trainee Mental Health Program at Mount Sinai.
Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Leibu conducted research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and published in the field of genomics. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where he received the Gilbert M. Beck Award for academic excellence in psychiatry and the Elizabeth Medical Award for compassion and ethics. He was also inducted into the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Leibu completed his residency and chief residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai. In addition, he is on the faculty of the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
