About Me

Farrah Hussain, MD, is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Mount Sinai West, Mount Sinai Morningside, The Mount Sinai Hospital, and Mount Sinai-Union Square, and an Assistant Professor in the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Hussain specializes in high-risk pregnancy, with special interest in diabetes in pregnancy, hypertension in pregnancy, fetal evaluation, amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.

Dr. Hussain graduated with a Bachelor of Science with High Distinction from the University of Toronto.  This was followed by a medical degree with Distinction in Biomedical Research from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She came to Mount Sinai West in 2014 for her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. During her residency, Dr. Hussain was honored with the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Award for Excellence in Obstetrics. She went on to complete a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Mount Sinai West and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Hussain is actively involved in research on gestational diabetes, preterm birth, and liver disease in pregnancy. Her research has covered such areas as the accuracy of intermittently scanned continuous glucose monitoring in gestational diabetes, the impact of managing gestational diabetes mellitus with telemedicine on pregnancy outcomes, and the effectiveness of vaginal progesterone and cerclage in preventing preterm births in patients with a short cervix. 

Dr. Hussain is a member of a number of committees, including Mount Sinai’s OBGYN Quality Improvement Committee, and a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Hussain speaks fluent English, Hindi, and Urdu.
