About Me
Dr. Reiff-Pasarew has demonstrated a commitment to fostering humanism in medicine through academic inquiry as well as through creative and interdisciplinary projects. In addition to her quality improvement initiatives to improve end-of-life care and her research on the use of the arts and humanities in medical education, she also produces and hosts The Art of Medicine Podcast, where she examines topics in health and illness through the lens of the arts and social sciences. The podcast is available on iTunes or at www.theartofmedicinepodcast.com. Dr. Reiff-Pasarew developed and now teaches a course for medical students in Narrative Medicine, a discipline that seeks to better understand the patient perspective, doctor-patient relationship, and physician’s role in society through the stories that are told in literature, film, and media. This spans the spectrum from the intimate relationship between one doctor and one patient all the way to the broader dialogue between larger illness-associated communities or advocacy groups with the medical establishment or healthcare system as a whole. Dr. Reiff-Pasarew is a Hospitalist Doctor for the Division of Hospital Medicine.
