About Me

Gabriel Prager, MD is the Director of Utilization Review (Peer to Peer/Physician Advisory Program) for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine.

In this new role, Dr. Prager is responsible for managing the Peer-to-Peer/Physician Advisory program, a system-wide initiative to address denials by payors for admissions across the Mount Sinai Health System. Since its inception in 2021, he has worked as a Physician Advisor in the Peer-to-Peer program and has substantial experience and a robust vision for advancing the program.

In performing medical necessity reviews of hospital admissions, the Peer-to-Peer program aims to ensure appropriate utilization and reimbursement of healthcare services. He collaborates closely with Emergency Medicine Leadership and Medical Directors, and the Health System Medical Director for Facility Revenue Integrity and Optimization. Dr. Prager also spearheads efforts to generate feedback to ED and Inpatient physicians regarding utilization and clinical documentation, and foster a close partnership with Health System Case Management.
