About Me

Gagan Sahni MD, FACC, FACP, FIC-OS is currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Cardiovascular diseases at Mount Sinai Hospital, NY . She has been Director of Cardio- Oncology and Inpatient Cardiology Consult services since 2014 and is one of the few physicians in the world that has been awarded the distinction of Fellow of IC-OS [International Cardio-Oncology Society] in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field.

She graduated from J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University , India with Gold Medals [ equivalent of summa cum laude] in Pharmacology, Ophthalmology and overall in Medicine. She subsequently completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, a SUNY Downstate affiliate where she was also accepted responsibility for one year as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine. She received her fellowship training in Cardiovascular Diseases from Beth Israel Medical Center-Long Island College Hospitals NY, where she was Chief Cardiology Fellow in the final year. During her fellowship, she presented several research abstracts at American College of Cardiology with the 2006 abstract on Impact of Heart Failure medications on incidence of Ventricular Arrhythmias, which was selected for the Young Investigators Award that year.
After completion of Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology Fellowship , Dr. Sahni was Attending and CCU Director at the Metropolitan College hospital, NYC from 2006-2010 . She also served as Site Clerkship Director for Medical students of NYMC at Metropolitan Hospital in 2008, mentoring medical students in Cardiology and was awarded Teacher of the Year award 2007-2009.
Dr Sahni joined the Cardiovascular Institute faculty at Mount Sinai Hospital, NYC in 2010, established the first Cardio-Oncology service at Mount Sinai in 2013 and was appointed Director of Cardio-Oncology & Inpatient Cardiology Consult Services in 2014.

She is one of the few cardiologists in the world to be certified internationally in Cardio-Oncology by the International Cardio-Oncology Society [ IC-OS] , and is a Fellow of IC-OS [ FICOS]  in addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology [ FACC] and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians[ FACP]

Her patient base extends beyond the tristate area for her special expertise in cardio-oncology or treating cardiovascular disease in cancer patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, with a special interest in cardiovascular effects of cancer chemotherapy & immunotherapy and AL cardiac amyloidosis. She has been widely published in international peer reviewed journals, has written 6 book chapters on Cardio-Oncology related topics, is an active clinical researcher and teacher in the field, co-investigator in a NIH funded study on Modeling Best Approaches for Cardiovascular Disease prevention in Cancer Survivors and lectures nationwide and internationally on cardio-oncology . She has been featured in Time Magazine, Cardiology Today and New York Times as an expert in Cardio-Oncology and is recognized by Castle Connolly as one of "America's Top Doctors “in 2018 ,2019, 2020, 2021 in the field of Cardiovascular disease .

Dr. Sahni is board certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular
Diseases with additional board certification in Nuclear Cardiology and
Echocardiography. She is also a Fellow of and certified in Cardio-oncology by the International Cardio-Oncology Society.

Dr. Sahni sees patients at The Mount Sinai Hospital in the main Guggenheim Pavilion at the Launder Ambulatory Center.
