About Me
Gagan Sahni MD, FACC, FACP, FIC-OS is currently Professor of Medicine and Cardiovascular diseases at the Icahn School of Medicine , Mount Sinai Hospital, NY . She is also the Director of Cardio- Oncology and Inpatient Cardiology Consult services and is one of the few physicians in the world that has been awarded the distinction of Fellow of IC-OS [International Cardio-Oncology Society] in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of cardiovascular care in cancer patients.
Dr. Sahni does consultations on patients referred nationwide and internationally for her expertise in Cardio-oncology which specializes in prevention, risk reduction, and treatment of heart disease in cancer patients and cancer survivors, in both the inpatient and outpatient setting . She has been widely published in high-impact peer reviewed journals, has written 6 book chapters on Cardio-Oncology related topics, is an active clinical researcher with several ongoing IRB approved cardio-oncology research studies, is co-investigator in a NIH funded study on Modeling Best Approaches for Cardiovascular Disease prevention in Cancer Survivors and has mentored several young physicians in the field . She has been featured in Time Magazine, Cardiology Today , New York Magazine and New York Times as an expert in Cardio-Oncology and has helped develop institution wide protocols for early detection and monitoring of cardiotoxicity due to various cancer treatments including chemotherapy, radiation therapy and immunotherapy .
The Cardio-Oncology Program at The Mount Sinai Hospital, under the directorship of Gagan Sahni, MD, was granted the status of “Gold Center of Excellence“ in 2022. This is the highest designation of certification from the International Cardio-Oncology Society (IC-OS), the largest international platform for physicians and nurse practitioners dedicated to cardiovascular care of cancer patients. Mount Sinai’s Cardio-Oncology Program is the first in New York State to be awarded the coveted Gold status as a Cardio-Oncology Center of Excellence by IC-OS.
Dr. Gagan Sahni has also been recognized by Castle Connolly as one of "America's Top Doctors” in 2018 ,2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 and has been featured in New York Magazine Top Doctors 2021- 2024. She was also included in the exclusive Top AAPI [ Asian American & Paacific Islander ] Doctors list in 2023 and 2024 and has received the Exceptional Women in Medicine Award by Castle Connolly from 2019 to 2025.
Dr. Sahni is one of the few cardiologists in the world to be certified internationally in Cardio-Oncology by the International Cardio-Oncology Society [ IC-OS] , and is a Fellow of IC-OS [ FIC-OS] in addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology [ FACC] and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians [FACP]. She is also board certified by the ABIMin Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases with prior board certifications in Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography.
She is on the Board of Directors of the Livestrong Foundation, a philanthrophic organization that supports cancer survivors and surviourship programs.
Dr. Sahni sees patients at The Mount Sinai Hospital in the main Guggenheim Pavilion at the Lauder Ambulatory Center. She is fluent in Hindi, Urdu , Punjabi and Spanish.
