About Me
Gallane Abraham, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Associate Director of Geriatric Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Abraham serves as Telemedicine and Express Care Faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Abraham is also a member of the Mount Sinai Community Advisory Board and co-Chair of the Project Review Committee. Dr. Abraham’s area of academic and clinical focus is on institutional-level interventions to improve health equity through clinical innovations addressing quality, cost and access to healthcare for geriatric and health disparate populations. Dr. Abraham has implemented innovations in informatics, clinical decision support, and telemedicine to improve healthcare and reduce health disparities. She received her training in Health Disparities through her appointment as a National Institute of Health/National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities Translational Health Disparities Scholar and as a Health Resources and Services Administration/Mount Sinai Center for Multicultural and Community Affairs Faculty Scholar. Dr. Abraham is a co-investigator for the 2012 Health Care Innovation Award from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid for the Geriatric Emergency Department Innovations in care through Workforce, Informatics and Structural Enhancements Program (GEDI WISE). This multicenter demonstration project developed new models of emergency care for older adults in Chicago, Illinois, Patterson, New Jersey, New York City, New York and received a funding amount of $12.7 million to demonstrate an estimated $40 million cost savings over 3 years transforming emergency care for older adults nationwide.
