About Me
Garrett Burnett, MD is an Associate Professor in Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine and Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Burnett completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He then completed residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by a fellowship in Regional Anesthesiology & Acute Pain Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Burnett serves as the Director of Operations and Program Director for the Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia (MOCA) Course for the Mount Sinai Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine Human Emulation, Education, and Evaluation Lab for Patient Safety and Professional Study (HELPS) Center. Dr. Burnett has published on numerous studies on pulse oximetry, simulation education, regional anesthesia, and disparities in anesthesia care. He has been invited to speak at national and internatinoal meetings as well as present to the United States Food and Drug Administration regarding pulse oximeter accuracy. He was awarded the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation's Medtronic Research Award in 2024 for his work on the impacts of skin pigmentation on pulse oximeter accuracy as well as the Mount Sinai Institute for Medical Education's 2024 Challenge Grant.
Dr. Burnett has published numerous studies on pulse oximetry, simulation and regional anesthesia as well as presented at national and international meetings.
