About Me

Dr. Gary Shifrin has practiced cardiology in Palm Beach County since 1988. After earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Northwestern University, Dr. Shifrin completed his medical studies at SUNY Health Sciences of Downstate Medical Center. He then went on to Montefiore Medical Center for his Internal Medicine residency, followed by Albert Einstein College of Medicine for his Cardiology fellowship. Dr. Shifrin is a double-board certified physician, with his certifications by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases.

Before joining Mount Sinai in 2020, Dr. Shifrin spent over 25 years as a Clinical Cardiology Consultant at a Palm Beach practice. In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Shifrin also held an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for over 15 years.

In his professional community, Dr. Shifrin belongs to more than a dozen medical organizations, including holding fellowship status in the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Heart Association. Additionally, he has received several awards during his years in practice, including being named on the lists of "Super Doctors of Florida" and "America's Top Cardiologists," and has extensive research experience in clinical cardiology.

Dr. Shifrin's love for cardiology stems from his long-time fascination with the human heart. Since joining medicine, he has watched the constant evolution and improvement of medications and techniques which have led to the exciting changes in the treatment of heart disease over the last three decades. When practicing today, Dr. Shifrin gains tremendous satisfaction knowing he can provide state-of-the-art treatments for his patients. He also tries to involve his patients in the learning of diet and lifestyle changes as factors that are equally as important as medication for warding off heart disease. Outside of his time in the office, Dr. Shifrin exemplifies a balanced lifestyle by leading an active life filled with exercise and sports. He bikes regularly and enjoys all manner of water sports, including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing. He is also an avid skier since age 3!

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
