About Me

Dr. Landa is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Retina Services at the Department of Ophthalmology of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary (NYEEI). Dr. Landa is full-time faculty member at the Department of Ophthalmology of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary with focused expertise in the surgery of the complex cataract, intraocular lens malposition, macula, retina, and vitreous diseases. He utilizes cutting-edge surgical techniques to provide exceptional care for patients suffering from a range of ocular conditions, including diabetic ocular complications, retinal tears, and age-related macular degeneration.

In addition to his clinical duties and administrative responsibilities, as a Vice-Chair for Clinical Integration of the Department of Ophthalmology at Mount Sinai, Dr. Landa is an active researcher committed to advancing the field of ophthalmology. He is currently engaged in both basic and clinical research focused on developing innovative treatments for age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal degeneration, and other ocular diseases. At the Advanced Retinal Imaging Center at NYEEI, he is also pioneering new retinal imaging techniques to enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

In regards to his educational background, he received his medical degree from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, before completing his residency in ophthalmology at the Kaplan Hospital. He also completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at NYEEI, renowned for being one of the oldest and busiest eye hospitals in the United States. Consistently ranked among the nation's top ophthalmic institutions by the U.S. News and World Report, NYEEI offers an ideal environment for Dr. Landa to advance his clinical practice and research.

As a dedicated cataract and vitreoretinal surgeon, Dr. Landa specializes in both surgical and medical management of various retinal conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vascular occlusions, and pediatric retinal diseases. His comprehensive approach includes advanced techniques like laser surgery, intraocular injections, scleral buckles, vitrectomies, and secondary intraocular lens implants. Thanks to his highly esteemed reputation and expertise, Dr. Landa is “refer-to” cataract and vitreoretinal surgeon for many optometrists, ophthalmologists and retina colleagues across New York City with its five boroughs, East New Jersey and Long Island.

Dr. Landa has authored more than 40 original scientific articles in peer reviewed publications and book chapters, primarily on the area of retinal disease and surgery. He has given more than 90 national and international presentations of his research work at major ophthalmology conferences and meetings.

Dr. Landa has been awarded multiple prestigious awards, including Senior Honor Award fromAmerican Society of Retinal Specialists, Resident Award for Outstanding Teaching and Dedicated Service, The John S. Hermann, MD, Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching, The Jorge. N. Buxton, MD, Microsurgical Educator Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Microsurgical Training of the Ophthalmology Residents, Resident Award for Outstanding Teaching and Dedicated Service, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai.   

Dr. Landa is dedicated to mentoring medical students, ophthalmology residents and vitreoretinal fellows in the field of vitreoretinal diseases at the Retina Center of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. 

Dr. Landa speaks Russian, Hebrew and Spanish. In his spare time, Dr. Landa enjoys spending time with his wife and their two sons.
