Dr. Gila Leiter has been an attending physician at Mount Sinai Hospital for over two decades, delivering thousands of babies, and treating women's health issues across their life span. She has expertise in treating the pregnant athlete, twin pregnancy, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, PMS, menopause, and osteoporosis.
Dr. Leiter has been recognized by colleagues and patients; winning awards such as Castle Connoly Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area, Best Doctors in America, and Patient's Choice award for many years.
Dr. Leiter is the author of “Everything You Need to Know to Have a Healthy Twin Pregnancy”, and has edited a number of books on pregnancy and childbirth. She is involved in research on the neuroanatomical basis of postpartum depression with collaborators from the Departments of Neurology, Psychiatry, as well as Obstetrics, which has recently been published in two peer-reviewed journals.
She is Vice President of the Medical Board of Mount Sinai Hospital and on its Executive Medical Committee, as well as past president of the Association of Attending Staff (AAS). She is also on the AAS's Executive Committee as an executive board member and serves as the President of several hospital and OB/GYN department committees. She is an Associate Clinical Professor at MSSM, teaching and precepting medical students, humanities students, and resident OB/GYN physicians on gynecological topics.
Gila has been on the medical advisory board of Sharsheret, serving young women with breast cancer, since its inception. She has chaired and lectured extensively, on diverse topics such as gynecological health, infertility and Jewish Law, and the reproductive health of women for synagogues, schools, and many community organizations such as Ohr Naava, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, etc.
Dr. Leiter is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and trained in OB/GYN at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She is boarded in OB/GYN, and is a Fellow of American College of OB/GYN, as well as a member of NY Gynecological Society and the New York County Medical Society.
Dr. Leiter is a proud mother of four daughters, including twins, and enjoys running, biking, and swimming, and has recently competed in several triathlons.
