About Me
Gregory Gagnon, PhD is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He serves as Supervising Psychologist and Assistant Director of Psychology Training at Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center, with a day-to-day focus on psychotherapy services, supervision, and the clinical development of trainees across levels of training. His clinical teaching emphasizes Mentalization-Based Treatment and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and he regularly supervises individual and group psychotherapy in outpatient and acute inpatient settings.
His scholarship addresses attachment, mentalization, stigma, and psychotherapy process. He has authored and contributed to publications on topics including an attachment-based psychotherapy group addressing HIV and sexual minority stressors, and associations among attachment, personality disorder symptoms, and physical health. He has also been invited to lecture on mentalizing internalized homonegativity, mentalizing institutional courage, and a brief introduction to MBT in academic-clinical settings.
Dr. Gagnon’s commitment to training and mentorship has been recognized with the Joan Sadow Award for Excellence in Teaching at Mount Sinai–Behavioral Health Center, and earlier with CUNY awards for service and scholarship, including the Kenneth B. Clark Dissertation Award.
