Gregory P Tsai, MD
Head and Neck Surgery, Sleep Medicine
About Me
Dr. Gregory Tsai graduated from Princeton University with a major in molecular biology and obtained his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. He spent several years in private practice in Great Neck and nine years with the Head & Neck Surgical Group on the Upper West Side, where he was partner, before joining the Mount Sinai staff as Assistant Professor.
Dr. Tsai is board certified in both otolaryngology and sleep medicine and treats both adults and children. He focuses his clinical practice on the treatment of head and neck disorders, diseases involving the nose and sinuses; voice and swallowing disorders; diseases of the ear and hearing loss; salivary gland disorders; and has special expertise in sleep apnea, snoring, and Eustachian tube dysfunction.  He is an expert in scuba diving medicine and its related disorders in the ears and sinuses.
He does a variety of office-based procedures, including inferior turbinate reduction, Vivaer procedure for nasal valve stenosis, balloon sinuplasty, balloon Eustachian tube dilation, and radiofrequency ablation of the posterior nerve (Neuromark).
He has lectured and instructed other physicians in the United States about otolaryngology and sleep medicine, speaking at the national SLEEP meeting, and was a course director of Sleep Disorders: Diagnosis and Management at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospitals. He introduced drug-induced sleep endoscopy at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside and has lectured about how this can change the surgical approach to sleep apnea.
Dr. Tsai’s specialty in scuba diving medicine stems from being a passionate scuba diver, and he is a referral physician for DAN (Diver’s Alert Network). In his spare time, Dr. Tsai serves as an elder at Redeemer Presbyterian Church – Lincoln Square and is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and Christian Society of Otolaryngology. Over the years, he has participated in medical missions in Honduras and Nigeria and has provided specialty care to the homeless in outreach measures such as Don’t Walk By.
Dr. Tsai has won research awards such as first place at the Triologic Society – Eastern Section and an Outstanding Basic Science Award at Mount Sinai Hospital.  He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
