About Me
Hasnain B. Gondal, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery and Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. He also serves as Assistant Director of Pediatric Cardiac Transplantation Program at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr.Gondal’s area of clinical focus and expertise include surgical treatment of cardiac lesions in children (congenital or acquired). Apart from surgically treating common pediatric heart lesions like ASD, VSD, TOF, Coarctation of Aorta, AV Canal and PDA, his other areas of interest and focus include neonatal cardiac surgeries, complex biventricular repairs, univentricular palliation, complex valve repairs, mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation in pediatric population. His area of expertise also include ACHD which encompass cardiac surgical treatment of adults with treated or untreated congenital heart defects.
He received his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College in Pakistan in 2010. After completing General Surgery Residency at Holy Family Hospital (Pakistan), he finished his Cardiac Surgery residency at Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology and National Institute of Heart Diseases and was Board Certified in Cardiac Surgery from College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in 2017. Due to his keen interest in congenital heart lesions, he then underwent extensive fellowship training in subspecialty of Congenital Heart Surgery across four continents from Children Hospital Lahore (Pakistan), Birmingham Children’s Hospital (UK), Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (Australia) and Boston Children’s Hospital (USA). During his fellowship, he also received certifications in the fields of Cardiac Surgery and Congenital Cardiac Surgery from European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EBCTS).
He served as Chief Administrative Fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital from June 2024-June 2025. Most recently, Dr. Gondal served as Clinical Instructor in department of Congenital Heart Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital- Baylor College of Medicine before joining Mount Sinai Hospital.
