About Me
I'm in private practice in Forest Hills. My Ph.D. is from the New School for Social Research (1969); my Diplomate (ABPP) is in is Clinical Psychology.
I'm a Member-at-large of the Board of Directors of Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) American Psychological Asociation. I'm a past President, and currently the Secretary, of Section V (Psychologist-Psychoanalyst Clinicians) of Division 39.
I Chair the Publications Committee of Division 39, where I oversee the publication of Psychoanalytic Psychology, and our quarterly newsletter, and Psychoanalytic Abstracts.
Currently, I'm an adjunct faculty member and clinical supervisor at Pace University's Clinical Psychology program; in the Ferkauf Graduate School of Yeshiva University; as well as serving as a Clinical Instructor in Mt Sinai's Psychiatry Department at Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica NY.
Past positions include Chief of Psychology at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY; Director of Training at the Long Island Consultation Center; and Director of Supervision at LICC. I taught in the Graduate Faculty at The New School for Social Research and at several independent training institutes in New York.
I served on the Board of the Queens County Psychological Association and was its President in 1993-94.
I've co-authored a book on suicide survivors (Silent Grief: Living in the Wake of Suicide 1988), now in fourth edition and published abroad, and in translation in Portuguese, Russian and, recently, Chinese.
I've published papers on narcissism; on the psychoanalyst as witness; on "passion" on the internet and on psychoanalysis and poetry. I'm also a published poet with poems in a number of periodicals and anthologies.
