About Me

Dr Raynes is a pediatric neurologist at Mount Sinai and Director of the Pediatric Neurology Clinic for over 4 years. She completed her training in 1999 at Albert EInstein/Montefiore for both pediatrics and neurology, training with some of the leaders in pediatric epilepsy including Isabelle Rapin, who was world renowned for her research in autism and speech and language disorders. During Dr Raynes’ fellowship, she co-authored a seminal paper on Joubert Syndrome, a rare disorder that affects the brainstem and cerebellum. The disorder has since received significant attention, as it is defined by genetic loci with a larger spectrum of disease than was previously known.

Dr Raynes subsequently joined Beth Israel, working with pediatric neurology subspecialists in epilepsy and movement disorders, among others. She treats a wide array of neurological disorders including epilepsy, headache disorders, congenital malformations, neurologic complications of metabolic disorders, strokes,  babies with neurologic complications in the newborn period, tic disorders, gait disorders and cerebral palsy. She also diagnoses and treats autism and related developmental disorders, ensuring that if there is a genetic component or underlying syndrome that those are explored.

The pediatric neurology division at Mount Sinai is part of a national Tuberous Sclerosis Consortium, partnering with colleagues in the related subspecialties to follow these patients collaboratively. Dr Raynes also partners with an endocrine colleague to see patients with Adrenoleukodystrophy in a combined clinic at which patients can see both providers in the same day. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Raynes enjoys teaching both medical students and residents, finding it particularly rewarding to be able to give back to others and see the new generation of physicians gain experience in pediatric neurology.

Dr. Raynes offers telemedicine appointments when appropriate. Please call her office to schedule a video visit.

The state of Florida requires out-of-state professionals who are registered to provide telehealth services to display a hyperlink to the Florida Department of Health telehealth web page. This allows Florida patients who are receiving medical care by telehealth to confirm the provider’s licensure and Florida registration.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

Industry Relationships

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.

Dr. Raynes has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.

Mount Sinai's faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
