Howard S. Kornstein, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has performed over 16,000 laser vision correction procedures. Dr. Kornstein hails originally from Rhode Island where he attended Brown University and Brown University Medical School. He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School before coming to New York University Medical Center for residency in Ophthalmology. He then received subspecialty fellowship training at NYU in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Kornstein has been in private practice in the Greater New York area since 1999.
While at Harvard, Dr. Kornstein participated in clinical laser vision studies preceding the FDA approval of the excimer laser. He has extensive experience in "bladeless" LASIK with the Intralase laser and has served as an Intralase instructor for other physicians. Dr. Kornstein was the first surgeon in the New York area to combine Intralase with Intacs corneal inserts for treating keratoconus.
Dr. Kornstein is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the New York Keratorefractive Society, the New York Intraocular Lens Implant Society and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
