About Me
Howard Seiden, MD is Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. He is also the Associate Chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and the Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Heart Center. His clinical interests include congenital heart disease, heart failure, mechanical assist devices, and cardiac critical care. His recent research endeavors include work in genetics of congenital heart disease, quality improvement, and cardiac critical care. Dr. Seiden also has an interest in innovative educational programs and is the co-creator of the web-based AKESO program.
He completed his General Pediatric Residency (1990-1993) and Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship (1993-1996) at the Mount Sinai Hospital, NY. He then completed advanced training in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia before returning to Mount Sinai as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, where he served as Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit until 2004. Dr. Seiden joined the faculty at the Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center from 2004-2012, where he served as Associate Chief of Service, Director of Pediatric Cardiac Inpatient Services, and Program Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Training Program. He also rose to the rank of Associate Professor at the Hofstra School of Medicine.
