About Me

Jacob Kattan, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Allergy in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine and the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. Dr. Kattan is a clinician and clinical researcher in the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute.  His research interests, funded in part by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, a division of the NIH, focus on diagnostic issues in food allergy and potential treatments for food allergy.  Dr. Kattan supervises 2 clinics per week in pediatric allergy during which time he sees patients with a wide variety of allergic disorders.  He is also involved in teaching fellows and residents.

Research

Dr. Kattan’s research interests focus on food allergy.  He is involved in research trials examining if component testing may improve the reliability of food allergy testing, and the role that platelet activating factor plays in anaphylaxis.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
