Jacqueline Lamour, MD
Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology
About Me
Jacqueline Lamour, MD, is a Senior Faculty in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. Dr. Lamour is the Director of Pediatric Heart Failure and Transplantation in the Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Heart Center.
Dr. Lamour comes to Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital with over 25 years of clinical and investigational research experience caring for children with cardiomyopathy, heart failure and transplantation. She has investigated, collaborated and authored numerous publications with international, national and regional colleagues to care for this unique pediatric population and to transform the field of pediatric heart failure and transplantation.
Dr. Lamour completing her Medical Degree at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, affectionately known as Downstate. She completed her pediatric residency and cardiology fellowship at Babies and Children’s Hospital, now New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Dr. Lamour remained on the pediatric faculty for 10 years caring for children with cardiomyopathy and advanced heart failure in need of heart transplantation. She cared for hundreds of children with these conditions. In 2007, she was recruited to the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore to become Director of Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies and was part of the team that performed the first heart transplant in the Bronx. She led a team that built a nationally recognized pediatric heart transplant program with excellent short and long-term survival. “A multidisciplinary approach is essential for a successful transplant program”, says Dr. Lamour. She was able to create a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment in the Bronx which included a host of other disciplines critically important to pediatric care such as social workers, dentists, child life specialists, financial coordinators, administrators, patients and their families. “Care, collaboration, healthcare coordination, patient advocacy and trust are essential parts of the patient, physician and healthcare relationship”, Dr. Lamour believes. She is known for being a ferocious advocate for her patients, listening and acting to improve the overall patient and family experience.
Research Focus
Dr. Lamour’s research focuses on clinical outcomes. She was a site Co-Investigator in a NIHLBI sponsored study focused on genes responsible for cardiomyopathy. She has been the site Principal Investigator for a NIHBLI sponsored, Clinical Trials in Transplantation in Children for the last 6 years. Most recently, she was the site Principal Investigator for a Department of Defense sponsored study looking at different immunosuppressive strategies in children after heart transplantation. This study is the first multicenter, randomized drug study in pediatric heart transplant.
