
Jamilia Sly, PhD
About Me
Dr. Sly’s research focuses on understanding and addressing health inequities affecting historically underserved and minoritized populations, with particular emphasis on cancer risk reduction and screening. Her scholarship examines the social, structural, and community-level factors that shape disparities in cancer screening, access to care, and health outcomes. Her work has been published in leading journals across psychology, public health, and biomedical research.
Trained in community psychology, Dr. Sly brings a community-engaged and interdisciplinary approach to her research, integrating partnerships with community-based organizations to inform the design and implementation of equitable interventions. She has received funding from federal and philanthropic agencies, including the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society, to advance research aimed at reducing cancer-related health inequities.
