About Me
Dr. D’Cruz is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has expertise in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic procedures for treatment of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, focusing on the colon and rectum. His areas of interest are colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr D’Cruz is a reviewer for Disease of Colon & Rectum, the premier peer-reviewed journal within the field. He has a passion for teaching and is an author and reviewer for SCORE, the leading surgical educational resource in the country.
Dr. D’Cruz combines the most advanced surgical techniques with a caring attitude that enables his patients and their families to feel comfortable and confident while making important life-changing medical decisions.
He attended the Armed Forces Medical College, India, one of the top 3 medical schools in the country, with a yearly acceptance rate of 150 students of 100,000 applicants. He was at the top of his class, securing 7 University distinction honors. He then completed an internship at the prestigious Grant Medical College and JJ Hospital, one of India’s busiest hospitals.
From there, he moved to the United States, completing his internship and surgical residency at Mount Sinai South Nassau on Long Island. He was the highest performer on the annual in-service surgical training exam throughout his residency. In addition, he won the awards for Resident Teacher of the Year within the surgical program and was nominated by the faculty for the Excellence in Teaching Award across the Mount Sinai Health System.
He pursued specialty training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Hofstra University/ Zucker School of Medicine within the Northwell Health System. He trained under the mentorship of Dr. John A. Procaccino and Dr. Feza Remzi, some of the most prominent surgeons within the field. He then returned to Mount Sinai system at Mount Sinai South Nassau where he completed his training.
