Dr. Jeffrey Kalman has been practicing Gastroenterology for over 35 years and joined Mount Sinai in 2017. After graduating with his doctorate degree from SUNY Health Science Center College of Medicine, Dr. Kalman completed both his internship and residency at Staten Island University Hospital. To finish his training, Dr. Kalman moved to Bridgeport Hospital for his fellowship in Gastroenterology. As a double-board certified physician in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Kalman's clinical interests are inflammatory bowel disease and the management of a range of conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux, gallbladder problems, diarrhea, and diverticulitis. Additionally, Dr. Kalman is multilingual and can communicate with patients in English, German, and Hebrew.
In his professional community, Dr. Kalman is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. When working with his patients, Dr. Kalman explains the doctor-patient relationship to be a partnership with a common goal. Patient education is therefore a priority, where he finds that the more the patient understands, the better the health outcomes.
