About Me

Jesse Miller Lewin, MD, FACMS, is Vice Chair of Surgical Operations, System Chief of the Division of Dermatologic & Cosmetic Surgery at the Kimberly and Eric J. Waldman Department of Dermatology and the Program Director for the Micrographic Surgery & Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship.

Dr. Lewin graduated magna cum laude from Bates College with departmental honors in anthropology. He went on to attend New York University School of Medicine where he was elected president of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and was awarded the prestigious Samuel Spiegel award for academic achievement.  Following medical school he completed a residency in dermatology at New York University Langone Medical Center in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, which is considered to be one of the nation’s premier dermatology training programs. Dr. Lewin went on to complete an intensive fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology at NYU, where he was trained by nationally recognized leaders in skin cancer and reconstructive surgery.  Dr. Lewin then worked as the Director of Dermatologic Surgery Education, and a Mohs Micrographic Surgeon at Columbia University Irving Medical Center for over 5 years prior to becoming the Chief of Mohs Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Lewin has authored numerous articles and textbook chapters on Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery and cutaneous oncology that have been published in the dermatologic surgery, otolaryngology and plastic surgery literature, and is a contributing editor for a handbook of dermatologic surgery. Dr. Lewin has also lectured at local and national academic conferences and meetings on reconstructive dermatologic surgery and skin cancer. He is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Dr. Lewin's clinical interests include Mohs Micrographic surgery, melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, facial reconstructive surgery, quality improvement and patient satisfaction.
