About Me
Dr. Jimmy Y. Hu is a cataract, corneal and refractive specialist; he performs complex cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery (including DMEK and DSEK), and refractive surgery (including LASIK, PRK, and ICLs). Dr. Hu also performs ocular surface reconstruction surgery, and attends patients with dry eyes, ocular surface disease, and complicated and corneal conditions. He is praised by his patients and colleagues for his surgical skills, gentle bedside manner, and expertise in the treatment of complex ophthalmic conditions. Athletes, law-enforcement officers, firemen, military service personnel, and fellow surgeons have trusted Dr. Hu with their eyes and praised his dedication to delivering superior results.
Dr. Hu graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, and earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine with Special Distinction in Ophthalmology for his research. His post-graduate training consisted of a medical internship at Brown University and residency at the Henkind Eye Institute at Montefiore Medical Center. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Hu obtained subspecialty fellowship training in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Hu has authored peer-reviewed scientific publications, presented research at national and international academic conferences and has received funding from the National Instituteof Health. He serves as voluntary faculty in Ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, and has won awards for both his research and teaching. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Cornea Society, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
