About Me
Jolion McGreevy, MD, MBE, MPH, MBA is Deputy Chief Clinical Officer for the Mount Sinai Health System, where he leads efforts to standardize clinical care, improve outcomes, and enhance patient safety and experience. He works to integrate clinical functions across hospitals, ensuring effective resource use and seamless care delivery. He also oversees Mount Sinai’s clinical ethics services.
His work is guided by the principle that health systems can provide high-quality, advanced care to all patients in a sustainable way. He focuses on listening directly to patients and frontline caregivers, using their insights to address systemic barriers and align innovations in care delivery with advances in medical science. While drawing on insights from other industries, his approach is rooted in a deep understanding of health care’s unique challenges and a commitment to doing what is right for patients.
Previously, Dr. McGreevy served as Chief Medical Officer of Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where he led through the hospital’s closure. His prior leadership roles at Mount Sinai include Interim System Chair of Emergency Medicine and System Vice Chair and Vice President for Clinical Operations in Emergency Medicine. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as Medical Director of the Emergency Department at The Mount Sinai Hospital and later led the clinical design of a new ED to improve care delivery in a modernized space.
He is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He previously served on the faculty of Boston University School of Medicine, where he held leadership roles in medical education. Before entering medicine, he taught high school science through the New York City Teaching Fellows Program. He has taught medical ethics at Boston University’s Department of Philosophy and Graduate Program in Bioinformatics, and at the Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics. He is a past Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.
He completed his emergency medicine residency at Boston Medical Center and holds an MD from Jefferson Medical College, a Master of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania, an MPH from Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA from New York University. He is an alumnus of the National Institutes of Health Fogarty International Clinical Research Scholars and Fellows Program.
His academic interests—including bioethics, clinical operations, medical education, infectious disease, and trauma—inspire his work to develop care models that are innovative, ethically grounded, and focused on advancing health equity in a rapidly evolving health care landscape.
