About Me

Dr. Richards is a highly trained surgeon and podiatrist who is focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients. An avid runner, his interest in athletics led him to seek a career that would enable him to assist people with the maintenance and improvement of their physical health. As such, he chose to pursue a career in podiatry with a particular focus on sports medicine. In 2006, Dr. Richards earned a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from The Ohio State University. He then went on to study podiatry at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, now known as the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, which is one of the most respected podiatric medical education institutions in the United States. After finishing his training there in 2010, Dr. Richards moved to New York City to undertake a podiatric medical rotation (PMR) residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, University Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. While fulfilling his residency, Dr. Richards acted as co-chair and board member of the Beth Israel House Staff Committee and board member of the Beth Israel Health & Wellness Committee. During this time, he also increased his knowledge of advancements in the podiatric and surgical fields through continuing education courses on topics including limb deformity and clubfoot correction. In addition, he shared his knowledge with the medical community through presentations such as one on plantar fasciitis that he gave at the TRIARQ Foot & Ankle Symposium in 2011. Due to his stellar performance at Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Richards was chosen to serve as chief resident for a one-year term from 2012 to 2013. Upon completion of his residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, Dr. Richards joined Starrett Podiatry in July 2013. Here, he is dedicated to providing his patients with superlative care through state-of-the-art surgical and non-surgical treatments. When it comes to the importance of maintaining optimal physical health, Dr. Richards brings a keen sensitivity to the patient experience, due to his athletic lifestyle that includes biking, swimming and running on a regular basis. He has completed 12 marathons in recent years, including ones in Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Washington, DC, and continues to pursue his goal of finishing at least one race in every state. He has also manned first aid stations in a volunteer capacity at various marathons and ultramarathons.
