About Me

Joe Tarantino, PhD, completed his doctorate in School Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University.

 

Dr. Tarantino completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Mt. Sinai Morningside's CARES program, and is currently an assistant professor and psychologist at Mt. Sinai Morningside's Outpatient Department (OPD) in the Child and Family Institute. He serves as the assistant clinical director and supervising psychologist of the Futures substance use program for teens, as well as an assessment psychologist to for patients in the OPD. He teaches and supervises a number of trainees across both roles. He treats children, adolescents, and families in the clinic, and provides psychotherapy to young adults through the Mount Sinai Faculty Practice.

 

Current focus areas include trauma-informed care, substance use treatment for adolescents, multicultural and systemic-level theoretical perspectives, and psychoeducational testing. Interests include complex trauma, substance use, deliberate practice, executive functioning coaching, somatic intervention, play therapy, group dynamics, DEI, and school consultation and assessment.
