Joshua Katz, DO
Sports Medicine (Rehabilitation)
About Me
Dr. Katz is a Board Certified Sports Medicine (non-operative orthopedics) specialist seeing patients at Mount Sinai Medical Group. Born in New Jersey, he attended the University of Michigan and then returned for medical school at RowanSOM. During his time there he received the national award for Excellence in Public Health from the United States Public Health Service (USPHS).
He graduated from the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Family Medicine Residency where he completed a specialized track in sports medicine. Following residency, he completed his sports medicine fellowship at Rutgers University and Princeton University, one of the oldest training programs in the country. While there, he worked extensively with elite Division 1 athletes of all sports. He was an assistant team physician with the Rutgers Football Team, and provided medical coverage for various Ivy League and NCAA championship events.
Dr. Katz is passionate about helping athletes of all levels, from Olympic to weekend warrior. He has experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries, concussions, and chronic joint conditions, with a particular interest in tennis and winter sport injuries. This includes using ultrasound-guided injections and cutting-edge therapies such as PRP and biologics.
When not with his wife Elen and cat Rufus, Dr. Katz remains a competitive USTA tennis player, avid skier, and super-fan of the Michigan Wolverines.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. KATZ has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
