Joshua Katz, DO
Sports Medicine (Rehabilitation)
About Me
Dr. Katz is a Board-Certified Sports Medicine physician specializing in non-operative orthopedics. He sees adolescents (ages 13 and older, with a parent present) and adults at Mount Sinai Medical Group. Born in New Jersey, he attended the University of Michigan and later returned to New Jersey for medical school at RowanSOM. During medical school, he received the national Award for Excellence in Public Health from the United States Public Health Service (USPHS).
He completed his residency at Rutgers–Robert Wood Johnson Family Medicine, where he participated in a specialized sports medicine track. Following residency, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at Rutgers University and Princeton University, one of the oldest training programs in the country. During this time, he worked closely with elite Division I athletes across multiple sports. He also served as an assistant team physician for the Rutgers Football Team and provided medical coverage for Ivy League and NCAA championship events.
Dr. Katz is passionate about caring for athletes of all levels, from Olympic competitors to weekend warriors. He has extensive experience treating musculoskeletal injuries, concussions, and chronic joint conditions, with a special interest in tennis and winter sports injuries. His practice includes ultrasound-guided injections and advanced treatments such as PRP and other biologic therapies.
Outside of work, Dr. Katz enjoys spending time with his wife, Elen, and their cat, Rufus. He is a competitive USTA tennis player, an avid skier, and a devoted Michigan Wolverines fan.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Katz has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
