About Me
Dr. Joshua Shatzkes ia a physician specializing in cardiovascular medicine and imaging. He has been on faculty at Mount Sinai since 2009. Dr. Shatzkes sees patients in Mount Sinai Hospital, as well as in Mount Sinai's off-site network locations throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Dr. Shatzkes' areas of clinical expertise include coronary artery disease, hypertension, dyslipidemia, arrhythmias, aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and venous insufficiency. He particularly focuses his practice on primary and seconday prevention.
Using lifestyle modifications and medications, Dr. Shatzkes aims to stop cardiovascular problems before they occur.
Dr. Shatzkes also specializes in interpreting cardiovascular imaging studies. He is board certified in echocardiography an nuclear cardiology and is also a registered physician vascular interpreter. One of Dr. Shatzkes' primary goals in his practice is to consistently provide the high quality standards for imaging associated with Mount Sinai Hospital to his practice within the outer borough communities of New York.
Dr. Shatzkes was born in Brooklyn, NY and accepted as a high school valedictorian to the combined Brooklyn College-SUNY Downstate B.A.-M.D. program, from which he graduated Magna Cum Lude with Distinction in Research in 2003. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Yale in 2006 and Mount Sinai's Urban community Fellowship program in Cardiovascular Diseases in 2009.
Dr. Shatzkes' hobbies include both playing and watching sports. He is a fan of the New York Yankees, Giants, Rangers and Knicks.
