Juan Arriaga, PhD

About Me

Juan Arriaga, PhD is Assistant Professor at the Departments of Oncological Sciences and Urology, where he studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms of prostate cancer metastasis and treatment resistance using mouse models, organoids and functional genomics. His laboratory focuses on understanding how different molecular alterations that are found in tumors originating in the prostate allow these cells to migrate and survive in other tissues, a process known as metastasis. By understanding how these alterations confer particular vulnerabilities to metastatic tumors, the Arriaga lab strives to develop novel treatment strategies that can improve patient care.
Dr. Arriaga received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. He then obtained his PhD from the same institution while working at the CIO-FUCA and Leloir Institutes and later did his postdoctoral training at Columbia University Medical Center. He joined Mount Sinai in 2022.
