Kamron Pourmand, MD
Liver Transplantation
About Me
Kamron Pourmand, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and serves as a transplant hepatologist in the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute at Mount Sinai. He provides specialized care to patients with acute and chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis, as well as caring for patients prior to and after liver transplantation. His academic interest is within medical education and curricular development, having served in numerous administrative leadership positions since medical school. Dr. Pourmand enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Pourmand is the Program Director for the Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, which was the first to be ACGME-approved in the Northeast, and is one of the largest fellowships of its kind in the United States. As such, the program has trained countless hepatologists who are now leaders in programs across the country and internationally.
Nationally, he has served as a board member within the AASLD Training and Workforce Committee and AGA Academy of Educators, and as course faculty for the Harvard Macy Institute. In addition to his dedication to patient care and teaching, Dr. Pourmand has published on medical education and physician burnout.
Dr. Pourmand received his medical degree from Stony Brook University where he served as class president and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Societies. This was followed by internal medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pourmand joined Mount Sinai faculty in 2019 after completing consecutive fellowships in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, serving as chief fellow in both.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments
The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.

Industry Relationships
Physicians and scientists on the faculty of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai often interact with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology companies, and other outside entities to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs. In order to promote an ethical and transparent environment for conducting research, providing clinical care and teaching, Mount Sinai requires that salaried faculty inform the School of their outside financial relationships.
Dr. Pourmand has not yet completed reporting of Industry relationships.
Mount Sinai’s faculty policies relating to faculty collaboration with industry are posted on our website. Patients may wish to ask their physician about the activities they perform for companies.
