About Me

Kara F. Sheinart MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and an attending physician in the Mount Sinai Stroke Center. Dr. Sheinart received a BA in natural sciences from the Johns Hopkins University and an MD from the SUNY Downstate School of Medicine. She completed an internship in internal medicine, a residency in neurology, and a fellowship in stroke and cerebrovascular disease at the Mount Sinai Medical Center before joining the faculty in 1995, where she also pursued graduate studies in public health.

Dr. Sheinart's interests include prevention of recurrent stroke, stroke epidemiology, and clinical trials. Dr. Sheinart sees patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and transient ischemic attacks, as well as general neurology patients. She has an active clinical practice at the Mount Sinai Hospital and serves as an attending physician on the stroke service.

Dr. Sheinart offers telemedicine appointments when appropriate.  Please call her office to schedule a video visit.

The state of Florida requires out-of-state professionals who are registered to provide telehealth services to display a hyperlink to the Florida Department of Health telehealth web page. This allows Florida patients who are receiving medical care by telehealth to confirm the provider’s licensure and Florida registration.

Patient Experience Star Ratings and Comments

The Patient Experience Star Rating reflects our patients’ perception of how well their Mount Sinai provider communicated with them during an office visit. The Star Rating is based on patient responses to three questions on a patient experience survey, a standardized questionnaire sent to verified patients and distributed by a third party vendor, Press Ganey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
