About Me

Katherine A Cox, DO, is Assistant Professor, Family Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and an attending physician at Mount Sinai Queens. Through her clinical focus on primary care, she provides a caring and holistic approach to the management and treatment of a range of medical conditions. She believes that her patients’ physical conditions can be intricately tied to their psychological and social states. In guiding patients on the road to good health and well-being, she believes in forming personalized partnerships based on mutual engagement and empowering patients to make well-informed decisions about their health. An integral part of caring for her patients is educating them about the treatment of existing conditions, as well as the prevention of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and pulmonary disease. In addition, Dr. Cox incorporates osteopathic manipulative therapy, a manual therapy focused on addressing musculoskeletal conditions, into her practice.

Prior to joining the staff at Mount Sinai Doctors, Dr. Cox was an attending physician and Interim Chief Medical Officer at Access Community Health Center in Manhattan and Site Director at the Bronx location. During this time, she practiced general medicine in addition to treating adults with intellectual disabilities and patients with HIV. She also completed certification in HIV Medicine from the American Academy of HIV Medicine.

Dr. Cox received her degree in osteopathic medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative therapy at the McLaren-Greater Lansing Hospital where she was selected as Chief Resident of her program. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, American Academy of HIV Medicine, and the New York State Osteopathic Medicine Society.
