About Me
Kenya Maria Parks, MD, is the Medical Director of the Pediatric School Based Health Program and Associate Professor of General Pediatrics at the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Parks attended medical school at Albany Medical College and completed her residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ). She has a master’s in molecular biology from Long Island University. Dr. Parks is Board Certified in Pediatrics.
Dr. Parks served for 12 years in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, McGovern Medical School. During her time at UT, McGovern Medical School, she served in the capacity of a Medical Director, Faculty Senate Chair, The Learning Environment and Professionalism Committee Chair, and as a member Faculty Senate, Faculty Senate Physician Resilience Committee, Interfaculty Council, Institutional Conflicts of Interest Committee, and the Department of Pediatrics, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Dr. Parks collaborated in the creation of The Intimate Partner Violence Medical Education Project, McGovern Medical School. She created and led the UT COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy and Health Disparities Taskforce. The taskforce was comprised of faculty, social workers, community health workers, residents, medical students, media, administration, and the local health department. Dr. Parks also created and led a support group for parents and caregivers of special needs children and adolescents.
Dr. Parks currently serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics, council on Community Pediatrics, Executive Committee, and on the National Resource Center for Patient/Family-Centered Medical Home (NRC- PFCMH) Health Equity Subcommittee.
Clinical Focus:
Dr. Parks clinical focus and passion is patient centered care. She is a tireless advocate for empowering patients and communities.
