Neurology, Neuro-Ophthalmology
About Me
Kevin Y. Yan, MD is an Assistant Professor of Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Neurosurgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is a board-certified neurologist with specialty training in neuro-ophthalmology. He sees patients with vision issues due to an underlying neurologic condition, such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension, optic neuritis and other inflammatory optic neuropathies, pituitary tumors, double vision, and brain tumors or strokes along the visual pathway. He sees patients at the Mount Sinai Hospital Ophthalmology Clinic at 17 E 102nd Street, 8th Floor, and at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary at 310 E 14th Street, South Building, 3rd Floor.
His research interests include the utility and practicality of implementing non-mydriatic fundus photography in emergency department and outpatient settings to facilitate examination of the ocular fundus when needed, to improve care for these patients by allowing for rapid diagnosis of fundus findings, and to expedite testing when necessary. He is passionate about mentorship and medical education.
Dr. Yan received his BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and his MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. He completed a residency in neurology at the Yale University School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, where he served as chief neurology resident. He completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the Emory University School of Medicine and Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
