About Me
Dr. Kim Klipstein is the Medical Director of the Psychiatry Faculty Practice and the System Director of Behavioral Medicine and Consultation Psychiatry in the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS). She is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). In these roles, she oversees operations and strategy for a wide variety of clinical psychiatric practices including integrated behavioral health programs across the system in the areas of OBGYN, transplant, cancer, and hiv. She additionally helped launch the Department’s Treatment Resistant Depression Program, and the Student Trainee Mental Health Program. She joined Mount Sinai Hospital in 2003 and has held numerous leadership positions in the Department over the years. Dr. Klipstein is board certified in both General Adult Psychiatry and in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. Clinically she works out of the Mount Sinai Hospital campus and is an expert in the treatment of psychiatric disorders in medically ill patients. Areas of interest and expertise include psychiatric symptoms in chronic illness, neurologic illness, pregnancy and postpartum, transplant, cancer, psychopharmacology, psychological reaction to illness, guardianship and medical decision making capacity. She received her MD from Cornell University Medical College and completed her residency training at New York Hospital and at the University of California, San Francisco.
