About Me

Dr. Kiran Mahmood joined the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute as an Assistant Professor of Medicine specializing in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. Dr. Mahmood received her undergraduate degree in Biology at The College of New Jersey. She completed her medical degree at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Mahmood completed internal medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis and cardiovascular disease fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She completed advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Mahmood is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and physicians’ vascular interpretation and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. Her clinical interests include acute and chronic heart failure, cardiogenic shock, temporary mechanical circulatory support, LVAD, and heart transplantation. Dr. Mahmood sees heart failure patients at Mount Sinai Morningside and LVAD and transplant patients at Mount Sinai Hospital.
