About Me
Kristen Zeligs, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science; Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Zeligs’ areas of special interest include the treatment of ovarian, endometrial, cervical and vulvar cancers with a focus on clinical trial enrollment for underserved populations. She is skilled in laparoscopic and da Vinci® robotic surgeries. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Zeligs serves as Associate Program Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Zeligs most recently was at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, where she completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. Upon completion of her fellowship she was awarded Walter Reed’s top research award and the Fellows’ Teaching Award from the OBGYN department. Prior to fellowship, Dr. Zeligs practiced as an OBGYN at hospitals throughout the Washington, D.C. area, including the Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base; Fort Belvoir Community Hospital; and MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.
As an undergraduate, Dr. Zeligs attended the United States Air Force Academy. She earned her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, where she received the Outstanding Student in Obstetrics and Gynecology Award. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She was recognized as an Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics resident scholar and awarded the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) National Medical Student Recruitment Award.
An avid researcher, Dr. Zeligs has been published in peer-reviewed journals, has authored several book chapters, and has presented her research at numerous national conferences. She is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, and ACOG. She has held many notable leadership positions, including serving on the ACOG Executive Board as the Junior Fellow Congress Advisory Council Chair. Dr. Zeligs is fluent in Spanish.
